Over the years what I have found is that the farm really belongs to the birds and they only let us use it over the summer. There are flocks of native birds as well as many that just pass through on migrations. Crows that are the size of Buicks, red tail hawks and red fox and lots of rabbits. We try to grow the crops around them but they own the place. They go from being my allies in the spring by eating the worms to being my nemesis in the summer by eating the corn. There is an old adage, the insects get some, the birds get some and the farmer gets some and that's the way it is still here!
