Default Siamese Twin Research?

I joined the CSHL Press September 2005 as Director of Sales and Marketing. Not long after, a parade of suppliers came to visit me here in Woodbury to discuss their various services.

One in particular, came in looking somewhat disturbed. I didn't make much of it until she asked, "um, what kind of research do you do here?" I gave her a simple, general description. She then asked, "what about the genetics research on Siamese twins?" I told her I wasn't aware of that project, and assumed she heard some kind a rumor. "Why do you ask?" I said. "Well, there's a small sign near the entrance that says 'Siamese Connection' with an arrow."

Something like this:

When I finally was able to stop laughing and catch my breath I told her that the sign referred to a double hose connection for the fire department. Makes you wonder what the general public think about the lab and genetic research in general...
