Default Visiting the Demerecs

Mrs. Demerec and I became friends while teaching at the Lloyd Harbor School and remained friends after I left in 1958. During the summer of 1958, my six-year old son Charlie and I went to the Lab a few mornings a week to a summer science program. We often were invited to stay for a picnic, and I remember Dr. Demerec carrying his canoe to the water on his head single handedly for an afternoon of relaxation.

I remember when we heard that Rada had married an Englishman Neville Dyson-Hudson and they were "off to Africa." It was always exciting to have news of her, although when we talked recently, after over 50 years, I had her off to the wrong country.
