Default The Nematode Blues

I must confess of being the author of the song that so rightly maligns the
slimy translucent worm and those lowly students, cast-offs, who were wholly unfit for attendance in the yeast course and were reduced to attending the lowest of the CSHL offerings that summer.

So without further adieu, may I present to you the song of 2003:

The Nematode Blues

(Sung to the tune of "Stagolee")
You're sitting at the banquet
It's time to hit the road
You can't believe you wasted three weeks
Studying the nematode
Well I got news for you,
You got the nematode blues
You spent all of your money
And all your precious time
You could have been down at the yeast course
And now you would be feeling fine
Well I got news for you,
You got the nematode blues
You thought those 'todes would be useful
You thought you would be cool
You thought you would be smarter
But now you see you were a fool
Well I got news for you,
You got the nematode blues
Worm genetics is pathetic
It might get better bye and bye
But not as long as you morons
Keep using RNAi
Well I got news for you,
You got the nematode blues
So goodbye Sidney Brenner
And Johnny Sulston too
If you come back next summer
You know what to do
We're the omnipotent beast
Come on and study yeast
